Prevent A Hacked Google Account

A few people I work with have had their Gmail accounts hacked lately. So here are some directions on how to see what sites or devices have access to your gmail account and how to revoke access to suspicious apps.

1. The first thing you should do is to log into your Gmail account and click your name or picture in the upper right hand corner.

2. Click account. (see above). This is a link next to your image. (I am the frog)

3. On the left hand side click Security and then click Account Permissions. (see the above picture)

 5. You will now see any app or device that has access to account. The type of access is different depending on the app or device. As you can see above, my phone has "Full account access."

Quizlet has access to basic account info, but for peace of mind, I will revoke access. This may mean that I will need to remember the password to quizlet, which is fine by me.

I read elsewhere that if you are revoking access to many apps, you should write down the name of the app just in case you want to have it back.

Good luck and I hope your Gmail account does not get hacked!
